Free tool
Check a CRM file before it breaks your import.
Find the problems that make imports fail or quietly create duplicates: repeated IDs, ZIP codes that lost their zero, phone numbers a spreadsheet mangled, formula cells and address columns that could mean two things.
Choose a CSV file
Or drop it here. CSV, tab or semicolon separated, up to 50 MB and 200,000 rows.
Your file is read by this page in your browser. It is not uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, and the check still works with the internet switched off.
What it checks
The problems that hurt most after an import.
- Repeated or missing record IDsRows with the same ID update the same contact, so all but the last are lost. Rows without one may be created as new contacts.
- Numbers a spreadsheet changedZIP codes that lost their leading zero and long numbers shown as 2.12555E+09. Both have to be fixed at the source.
- Phone numbers and emailsNumbers that are not 10-digit US numbers, several numbers in one cell, mixed formats, and emails missing an @ or a domain.
- Formula cellsValues that start with =, +, - or @ and could run as formulas when the file is opened.
- Broken structureRows with more values than columns, usually an unquoted comma, a quote that never closes, and empty rows.
- Column namesValues without a column name, the same name twice, and stray spaces that stop a saved mapping from matching.
- Address rolesA column named only “Address” could be the property or the mailing address. The checker says which it probably is.
- EncodingFiles saved in an older Windows encoding, and characters already damaged before the file reached you.
Downloads
A fixed copy, and a clean template.
The fixed copy only makes safe changes, each listed and counted: trimmed spaces, named and renamed columns, extra values kept in new columns, empty rows removed and formula values kept as text. Phone formatting and removing repeated rows are options you turn on.
What it will not do
It won’t guess at your data.
It does not invent missing values, restore digits a spreadsheet already threw away, or decide which of two rows with the same ID is right. Those need the source file or a person.
Trace your list and export it just as clean.
Every export we write follows these same rules, and your record IDs make it from upload to download.
