For surplus recovery teams

Track down former owners. Case by case.

Surplus recovery starts with a county list and ends with a phone call. We handle the middle: tracing the former owner of each property, keeping your case number on every row, and sending reviewed contacts to your CRM.

Looking for your own surplus funds? Locate is software for recovery companies. It does not file claims, hold funds or decide who’s owed money. If you think you’re owed money from a foreclosure or tax sale, contact the court or county office that handled the sale.

The workflow

County list in. Reviewed contacts out.

01

Upload the case list

Upload the county’s CSV or Excel file as it comes. Pick the case number as your record ID and it stays on every row, all the way to the export.

02

Trace the former owner

We search each property address and flag the person whose name matches the owner of record. You choose who gets exported.

03

Send it to your CRM

Your original columns stay put, sale details included, with the contact you picked added after them.

Built for these cases

The details that matter on surplus cases.

  • The owner of record, not whoever lives there nowWe compare the owner name on your list with everyone found at the address. Everyone else is shown, not exported.
  • The county’s mailing address stays separateIt keeps its own column and never gets mixed up with the property or the person’s current address.
  • LLC and trust owners go to reviewWe look up LLC owners in the state registry and show how well they match. Fourteen states and DC are searched directly; the rest link to the official search.
  • Deceased owners are marked, not resolvedIf our data provider reports someone as deceased, the result says so. We don’t research heirs, and relatives are never exported as contacts.

New cases every day

A new county file every day? Handled within your limits.

Drop each day’s file in a folder. An automation keyed on the case number only searches cases it hasn’t seen yet, within a per-run limit and a daily cap.

  • A dry run before the first runSee which cases it would search and what that could cost.
  • Stops if the county changes the fileNew or missing columns pause the run until you map them.

How automations work

What’s on you

What Locate leaves to you.

  • Who can claim, and howThat depends on the state and the case, and it stays with you and your attorney.
  • Heirs and estatesWe find contact details. Proving a family relationship is separate work.
  • Outreach rulesCalling, texting and mail rules apply to your campaigns. We flag numbers on the Do Not Call Registry; we don’t decide what outreach is allowed.

Your list has owners in it. Go reach them.

Upload your list, see the max cost up front, and export only the people you pick.
